Based in Charleston, SC, David’s journey into jewelry making began as a personal quest for creative expression. Stones and gems had long been a hobby of David’s, and although he was initially interested in diamonds, it was his discovery of opals that lit him with wonder. He found beauty in the unpredictability and unrefined, not knowing if his hard work would produce a one-of-a-kind stone or turn out to be nothing. The unique, energy-healing process gave him solace after a long day of tattooing, working on his car or simply navigating life during a global pandemic.

The chosen concept was designed to unite the initials RCJ into a sleek and modern mark, reminiscent of both faceted gemstones and a rounded opal. The design exuded classic elegance and contemporary sophistication, a nod to Rough Cut Jeweler’s commitment to timeless craftsmanship.

With our chosen logo in tow, it was time to craft accompanying branding. We experimented with fonts and colors until we found the perfect combination, landing on a sleek, elevated aesthetic. Next, we delved into the brand’s potential for captivating expression through packaging design, envisioning striking jewelry boxes, standout merchandise and other compelling marketing assets that would demand attention.
