Over the past twenty years, I’ve learned that the best partnerships aren’t built solely on amazing strategy and creativity. They’re built on mutual respect.
We often celebrate creative brilliance as if it’s the work of one exceptionally talented person or team. But the best projects I’ve been part of weren’t built by a single creative mind, they were built by talented people on both sides of the aisle who respected each other’s expertise and collaborated toward a shared goal.
Our partnership with ImpactXM reminds me of that in the best possible way.
ImpactXM creates unforgettable brand experiences. They know how to captivate audiences through live events, exhibits and experiential marketing. They didn’t come to us because they needed someone to tell them how to do that. They came to us because they wanted a branding and web partner who could bring a different perspective and help them stand out in a crowded marketplace.
That’s where BatesMeron could bring our strengths to the table. (Which is generally a better strategy than pretending you’re good at everything, am I right?)
Our primary contact was Charles Storm, Director of Marketing. Charles and I have had the opportunity to work together across multiple organizations over the years. That’s never happened by accident. Strategic, organized and incredibly supportive, he’s one of those rare marketing leaders who knows how to bring out the best in creative people.
Charles is one of those rare marketing leaders who understands how to work with creative people. He communicates clearly, organizes projects thoughtfully and expresses ideas in a language that makes collaboration feel effortless. More importantly, he genuinely values the expertise we bring to the table.
He makes us WANT to do our best work because he makes the experience so positive.
That kind of leadership changes everything.

“Every team member was a delight. They inspired me to try harder and constantly refine the deadline.”
Together, we built a new website that better reflected the quality of the experiences ImpactXM creates every day. As the relationship grew, so did the trust. What began as a website evolved into graphic design support and presentation materials that helped strengthen their business development efforts.
But when I think back on that project today, the website isn’t what I remember most. It’s the partnership.
Charles described our team as “design-oriented and confident” and appreciated that we provided thoughtful counsel alongside excellent customer service. He shared that while we stood behind our recommendations, we were also willing to compromise and make alterations when needed.
That balance matters because the strongest partnerships aren’t about proving who’s right. They’re about bringing different perspectives together to create something neither team could have achieved alone.

“The team had business acumen and the friendly service of a boutique firm. It was the best of both worlds.”
Reading that made me smile because it’s exactly the experience we’ve always hoped to create for every client. Strategic enough to challenge ideas. Approachable enough to enjoy the journey together.
“They were savvy and fun to work with…a spectacular combo.”
I’ll take “savvy & fun” over “difficult but talented” every day of the week ;]
Looking back, I realized something. The best creative partnerships aren’t built because one person is more talented than everyone else. They’re built because everyone respects the expertise the other person brings.
When clients trust us to do what we do best and we trust them to do what they do best, ideas get stronger. The work gets better and the entire process becomes more enjoyable.
We left the brand better than when we started. Looking back, I think we all left the project better, too. Those are the kinds of collaborations you never forget.
“BatesMeron consistently brings the kind of strategic thinking and creative expertise that elevates every project. They ask smart questions, communicate clearly and create work with purpose. Beyond the quality of the deliverables, they’re simply great partners. They make the process enjoyable while always keeping the business goals front and center.”
