It’s nearing the end of the year and what does that mean? Holidays? Cold weather? Spending time with family? For me, it means vacation. I usually like to save my vacation days until the end of the year so I can have longer holiday breaks, but sometimes I don’t plan well and end up losing days. MasterCard has been running an amazing #OneMoreDay campaign reminding us of this very problem.

When I first saw this commercial, it really got me thinking about why I don’t use up my vacation days. Sometimes I can’t figure out timing, I don’t want to burden my coworkers with any problems that may arise in my absence, or I use my days up for non-relaxing events like family emergencies, moving days and doctor’s appointments.
Studies have shown that taking fewer vacation days can, in some cases, lead to decreased productivity. So because I don’t want BatesMeron to suffer on my behalf, I made a conscious decision to use my vacation days wisely and treat myself to a much-deserved week off in warm, beautiful…

With all the colorful foliage, nature, beaches and prescribed relaxation, I can’t imagine a better way to forget the stress (and bad weather) that everyday life brings.
Working without vacations can lead to bad habits that jeopardize business, health and happiness. So before this cold weather starts Jamaican me crazy, I can’t wait to live my vacation days to the fullest. I highly suggest everyone do the same.
