Back in 2011, BatesMeron began working with Flower Show Productions to develop the promotional campaign for the 2012 Chicago Flower & Garden Show. And since the theme was “Hort Couture,” we had fun pulling inspiration from our inner-fashionista selves.
We created print ads, online ads, outdoor ads and other marketing collateral that encouraged people to “glam the garden.” Overall, it seemed that everyone really liked our work, which made us happy. It also helped the Chicago Flower & Garden Show gain more exposure and buzz, which made us very happy.
Needless to say, the entire BatesMeron team was pretty proud.
This led us to enter our work into some creative competitions. First, the 2013 Communicator Awards, which is the largest and most competitive awards program honoring creative excellence for communications professionals. And second, the Hermes Creative Awards, an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional materials and programs and emerging technologies.
From there, anticipation grew.
Then suddenly, on April 30th, the International Academy of the Visual Arts announced that BatesMeron Sweet Design was one of the winners!
BatesMeron was given the Award of Distinction for our 2012 Chicago Flower & Garden Show promotional campaign. We were selected from a field of over 6,000 entries from media, advertising and marketing firms across the US and around the world.
We thought our office excitement was at its peak until more news arrived—BatesMeron had won a second award! Yes, we had been recognized as a Gold Winner in Integrated Marketing/Event Marketing through the Hermes Creative Awards.
As for our feelings…there are no words.
Both BatesMeron and Flower Shower Productions are thrilled with these honors and recognition. We love the work. They love the work. They inspire us to push ourselves to create work that’s to die for, dahling. And together we’re excited to continue making beautiful campaigns for many more shows to come!
