A key role in the success of an infographic is its ability to engage and inform viewers. No matter how beautiful it may be, if the infographic does not serve the purpose of informing through graphics, it’s not doing its job.
I recently found a cool infographic that does exactly what it’s supposed to do plus more. This infographic not only caught my eye because of its Chicago-centric theme but also because it engages, interacts and makes a heavy amount of information easy to understand and digest.
Take a look for yourself. (I know you’ll be playing with this one for a while.) Note the use of colors ranging from orange to blue found in the legend to make the map easier to read and identify construction years. Also, enjoy how building ages can be separated through a helpful filter that groups construction years into segments.
